Job Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented Costing Assistant to support the finance and procurement teams in managing product cost calculations, price analysis, and margin tracking for our trading operations. This role involves collecting and analysing data related to product costs, shipping, duties, and other expenses to ensure accurate pricing and profitability analysis.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist in preparing cost sheets for imported/exported goods, including product price, freight, duties, insurance, and other associated costs. Maintain physical file for the same.
Update and maintain accurate cost records in the ERP or accounting system.
Coordinate with procurement, logistics, and sales & Stores teams to gather required cost data and resolve discrepancies.
Need to prepare contract for customers for special price.
Need to collect market price from wholesale team or by visiting local market/ supermarkets.
Monitor landed cost calculations and ensure pricing aligns with current market rates and supplier quotes.
Support in margin analysis and highlight variances between actual and expected costs.
Help prepare monthly costing reports and assist in budgeting and forecasting exercises.
Assist in inventory valuation and stock movement reporting as needed.
Ensure compliance with internal controls and financial policies related to costing.
Perform other administrative or analytical tasks as required by the costing/accounting team.
Assist invoicing team in case invoicing staff is absent.
Process staff discount as per company policy.
Maintain multiple price list for different categories and upload them as and when new shipments arrive.
Prepare quotation for sales team for items requested by air or sea
Any other task given by costing in charge or chief accountant.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or a related field.
1–2 years of relevant experience in costing or finance, preferably in a trading or import/export environment.
Basic knowledge of accounting principles and costing concepts.
Proficiency in Excel and familiarity with accounting software or ERP systems.
Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to work under pressure.
Good communication and coordination skills.
Preferred Skills:
Experience with international trade costing (e.g., Incoterms, CIF/FOB).
Familiarity with customs duties, tariffs, and logistics processes.
