Job Description

  • Responsible for manufacturing feasibility study for GDC/LPDC parts from customer drawings.
  • The data input to cost estimation of casting parts by studying castability, tolerance, surface finish, casting weight, initial gating design, gating weight etc.
  • Should have capability to analyze & generate simulation for Gravity die casting / Low pressure die casting process parts.
  • Should have capability to lead, generate & implement ideas to optimize gating design, thermal design, micro shrinkages, porosity, other casting defects indicated in the simulation.
  • Should have capability to lead, generate & implement ideas to optimize cold box core development simulation.
  • Conduct & prepare APQP, DFMEA, Control plans documents for die, Die process plans
  • Should be capable to handle independently die design, generated 3D die data and 2D drawings.
  • Give key die design inputs for Identifying & conceptualizing casting machine, post casting fixture requirement as per the drawing & 3D model.
  • Preparation of die specification in consideration of mechanical properties of part, dimensional tolerance, shrinkage allowance, die life achievement, compatibility with casting machine, die service and die handling at site. Linamar India Private Ltd.

  • JOB SUMMARY:
  • Lead the die development by plan, coordinate and timely execution of project milestones like DAP, Manufacturing, buy-off inspection, installation and process capability prove out in close coordination with the die supplier and in alignment with customer timeline
  • Establish process as per plan, support production team for resolving shop floor issues
  • Understand ,Validate and decide on Statement of Requirements(SOR) / Specifications of customer in consultation with in-house CFT and with customer technical team
  • Ensure compliance with all legislative requirements in the facility’s geographic location and:
  • The Global Operating System Plays;
  • ISO 9001 Quality Management system
  • IATF 16949 Automotive Quality Management System and Linamar Quality Basics system standards.
  • Support, Foster, Promote and Demonstrate Linamar’s Core Values and Leadership Behaviors.
  • Maintain balance between customer, employee and financial satisfaction by maximizing facility/department Performance Indicators to align to Linamar’s Stepping Stool of Success Strategy.
  • Support and maintain department lean initiatives as set out in LPS system requirements.
  • Maintain department 5S requirements.
  • Work with production planning to set shop priorities and ensure all required tools and documentation in the plant for production run jobs are available.
  • Suggest die process improvements / Die related issues based on lessons learned.
  • Conduct time studies to optimize cycle counts of existing processes.
  • Assist in defining the plant lay-out and enhance ergonomic requirements by establishing programs and conducting studies.
  • Planning and executing of projects related to new and pre-existing production lines, improvements, upgrades, layouts, and new equipment related to machining or assembly
  • Participate in Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP).
  • Recognize and resolve tooling(Die) related difficulties with existing and new projects while working with Manufacturing support staff.
  • Interface with suppliers of Die spares, tools to establish engineering requirements for start of Production.
  • Investigate and find resolution of specific processing problems for assigned projects/parts.
  • Conduct studies of the reliability and performance of plant facilities and productions or administrative systems.
  • Develop and review all processes and operator instructions to endure accuracy and conformance to actual procedures; revise as needed.
  • Participate in corrective action to meet ongoing cost, quality, and delivery.
  • Lead development of process flows, process sheets, DFMEA’s, tool lists and control plans.
  • Ensure the process is capable of producing parts within print specifications.
  • Recognize and resolve process related difficulties with current and future projects.
  • Assist in the preparations of quotations to customer
  • Participate in Customer Focus Meetings.
  • Review proposed drawings to ensure the process satisfies the clients' requirements and complies with Casting manufacturing capabilities.
  • Collect data and develop statistics to establish casting /core dies and system functionality. Estimate durations of development, manufacturing, proving, PPAP, SOP and repair tasks.

RESPONSIBILITIES (IN ORDER OF IMPORTANCE):

  • Determine which materials to use for projects and decide the appropriate codes and Standards to apply when completing these projects.
  • Interact with others such as supervisors or managers for advice and direction, to discuss work and provide updates.
  • Coordinate and integrate work within teams of engineers and technicians to work on common projects, assume project management roles to coordinate the involvement of other engineers, contractors, technicians, and suppliers.
  • Adhere to IATF 16949 and applicable customer standards.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Diploma with minimum 10 years of experience/ B.E.(Mechanical/Tool engineering) with minimum 8 years of experience
  • A minimum five to six years’ of experience in a GDC/LPDC aluminum foundry / Die manufacturer.
  • Knowledge of Die design(NX,Catia) and simulation software’s (Magma.Anycasting or any other simulation software)
  • Knowledge of auto component manufacturing industry
  • Knowledge of GDC / LPDC process with Cold box coring process
  • With preferably knowledge of Excel/ Power point
  • Split time between office environment and manufacturing environment
  • Program Manager
