Job Description

  • 1.1.Should have knowledge of GDC,LPDC,Core making process(preferably hotbox)
  • 1.2.Responsible for manufacturing feasibility study, process selection for GDC/LPDC parts from customer drawings.
  • 1.3.The data input to cost estimation,
  • 1.3.1. Process selection, equipment selection
  • 1.3.2. Capital investment preparation
  • 1.3.3. Capacity calculation for all casting and auxiliary equipment’s
  • 1.3.4. Optimizing capacity utilization and reducing capital investment
  • 1.3.5. In partnership with die supplier, cast ability, tolerance, surface finish achievable casting weight, initial gating design, gating weight etc.
  • 1.4. Should have experience in preparation of equipment specification, supplier selection, evaluation of supplier, install & commissioning of equipment
  • 1.5.Should have capability to analyze simulation for Gravity die casting / Low pressure die casting process parts
  • 1.6. Should have capability to lead, generate ideas to optimize gating design, thermal design, micro shrinkages, porosity, other casting defects indicated in the simulation
  • 1.7.Conduct & prepare, maintain APQP, PFMEA, DFMEA, Control plans documents
  • 1.8.Should be capable to handle independently die supplier for design, development and proving of new parts dies and repeat dies.

  • 1.0 JOB SUMMARY:
  • 1.11. Lead the die development by plan, coordinate and timely execution of project milestones like DAP, Manufacturing, buy-off inspection, installation and process capability prove out in close coordination with the equipment, die supplier and in alignment with customer timeline
  • 1.12. Establish process as per plan, support production team for resolving shop floor issues 1.13. Understand ,Validate and decide on Statement of Requirements(SOR) / Specifications of customer in consultation with in-house CFT and with customer technical team
  • 2.1 Assist in the preparations of quotations to customer
  • 2.2 Planning and executing of projects related to new and pre-existing production lines, improvements, upgrades, layouts and new equipment related casting, core & post casting facilities
  • 2.3 Preparation of layout for the new projects
  • 2.4 2.5 Drive strategy, generate, implement countermeasure for rejection reduction in coordination with CFT, die supplier.
  • 2.6 Review proposed drawings to ensure the process satisfies the clients' requirements and complies with casting manufacturing capabilities
  • 2.7 Collect data and develop statistics to establish casting /core dies and system functionality. Estimate durations of development, manufacturing, proving, PPAP, SOP and repair tasks.
  • 2.8 Determine which materials to use for projects and decide the appropriate codes and standards to apply when completing these projects
  • 2.9 Interact with others such as supervisors or managers for advice and direction, to discuss work and provide updates.
  • 2.10 Participate in corrective action to meet ongoing cost, quality, and delivery
  • 2.11 Lead development of process flows, process sheets, PFMEA, DFMEA’s, tool lists and control plans
  • 2.12 Ensure the process is capable of producing parts within print specifications.
  • 2.13 Recognize and resolve process related difficulties with current and future projects.
  • 2.14 Ensure compliance with all legislative requirements in the facility’s geographic location and:  The Global Operating System Plays;  ISO 9001 Quality Management system  IATF 16949 Automotive Quality Management System and Linamar Quality Basics system standards.
  • 2.15 Maintain balance between customer, employee and financial satisfaction by maximizing facility/department performance Indicators to align to Linamar’s Stepping Stool of Success Strategy
  • 2.16 Support, Foster, Promote and Demonstrate Linamar’s Core Values and Leadership behaviors
  • 2.17 Support and maintain department lean initiatives as set out in LPS system requirements

  • 2.20 Suggest die process improvements / Die related issues based on lessons learned
  • 2.21 Conduct time studies to optimize cycle counts of existing processes
  • 2.22 Assist in defining the plant lay-out and enhance ergonomic requirements by establishing programs and conducting studies
  • 2.23 Participate in Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP)
  • 2.24 Recognize and resolve tooling(Die) related difficulties with existing and new projects while working with 2.0 RESPONSIBILITIES (IN ORDER OF IMPORTANCE): manufacturing support staff
  • 2.25 Interface with suppliers of Die spares, tools to establish engineering requirements for start of production
  • 2.26 Investigate and find resolution of specific processing problems for assigned projects/parts.
  • 2.27 Conduct studies of the reliability and performance of plant facilities and productions or administrative Systems.
  • 2.28 Develop and review all processes and operator instructions to endure accuracy and conformance to actual procedures; revise as needed.
  • 2.29 Participate in Customer Focus Meetings.
  • 2.30 Coordinate and integrate work within teams of engineers and technicians to work on common projects, assume project management roles to coordinate the involvement of other engineers, contractors, technicians, and suppliers.
  • 2.31 Adhere to IATF 16949 and applicable customer standards.
  • 2.32 Other duties as assigned.
  • 3.1 Diploma with minimum 10 years of experience/ B.E.(Mechanical/Tool engineering) with minimum 8-11 years of experience
  • 4.1 A minimum 8-10 years of experience in a GDC/LPDC aluminum foundry.
  • 4.2 Knowledge of GDC / LPDC process with Cold box coring process
  • 4.3 Knowledge of GDC/LPDC equipment’s & Post casting equipment’s
  • 4.4 Knowledge of Heat treatment equipment’s
  • 4.5 Knowledge of auto component manufacturing industry
  • 4.6 With preferably knowledge of Excel/ Power point
  • 4.7 Knowledge of Die design(NX,Catia) and simulation software’s (Magma.Anycasting or any other simulation software) will be added advantage
  • 5.1 Split time between office environment and manufacturing environment
