Qualifications: A Master’s degree in Library and Information Science (M.Lib.I.Sc.) from a recognized institution and 5+ years of experience in a reputed library
- For Librarian Associate and Librarian Assistant.
Key Responsibilities:
Patron Assistance:
- Greet and assist library visitors with locating books, digital resources, and other materials.
- Provide guidance on how to use the library catalogue, computers/Kiosks, and other library services.
- Assist patrons with library membership registration, renewals, and other inquiries.
- Offer basic troubleshooting for digital resources, including e-books and online databases.
Circulation Management:
- Check books and materials in and out using the library’s circulation system.
- Process reservations, renewals, and overdue notifications.
- Handle returns and ensure materials are re-shelved accurately and efficiently.
- Maintain the organization and ensuring the cleanliness of library shelves and reading areas.
Collection Management:
- Assist in cataloguing and processing new library materials.
- Perform routine checks to ensure library materials are in good condition.
- Report damaged or lost items and suggest replacements as needed.
Community Engagement:
- Create book displays in line with topical and relevant themes
- Create promotional materials to enhance user engagement.
Administrative Support:
- Maintain accurate records of library transactions and inventory.
- Prepare reports and statistics related to library usage.
- Handle tasks like filing & responding to inquiries via phone or email.
Safety and Compliance:
- Ensure a safe and welcoming environment for all visitors, particularly children.
- Adhere to child protection policies and other relevant regulations.
- Report any incidents or concerns to the Head - Library Services.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Library Science.
- Prior experience in a library or customer service role is a plus.
