Job Description

Skill Set

  1. Strong understanding of metallurgy principles and heat treatment processes.
  2. Expertise in material selection, process optimization, and failure analysis.
  3. Proficient in using Heat treatment equipment (furnaces, quenching, furnace controls).
  4. Familiarity with material characterization techniques (e.g., microstructural analysis, hardness testing, SEM, XRD).
  5. Knowledge of industry standards and codes (e.g., SAE, ASTM, ISO) related to heat treatment and material performance.
  6. Strong problem-solving, analytical, and technical writing skills.
  7. Effective communication skills and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
  8. Ability to work independently and in a team environment, managing multiple projects simultaneously.

Job Responsibilities

  1. Heat Treatment Process Development: Design, develop, and optimize heat treatment processes (such as Brazing, annealing, hardening, tempering, carburizing, quenching, and nitriding) to meet material specifications and performance requirements. Focus on materials such as PH steel, Stainless steel, Nickey Alloys, titanium and other alloys.
  2. Process Documentation & Reporting: Develop and maintain process specifications, work instructions, and standard operating procedures (SOPs) for heat treatment operations. Prepare detailed technical reports on experimental findings, process evaluations, and performance improvements.
  3. Process Optimization: Evaluate and optimize heat treatment parameters, including temperature, time, and atmosphere, to improve process efficiency, reduce costs, and ensure consistent quality. Minimize defects such as distortion, cracking, or inconsistent hardness.
  4. Failure Analysis & Troubleshooting: Investigate and diagnose issues related to heat treatment failures such as distortion, surface defects, improper mechanical properties, or thermal stress. Implement corrective actions and process adjustments to resolve problems effectively.
  5. Metallurgical Analysis: Conduct in-depth metallurgical analysis to understand the impact of various heat treatment processes on microstructure, hardness, tensile strength, fatigue resistance, and other material properties. Develop strategies to achieve desired material characteristics based on end-use requirements.
  6. Collaboration with Production Teams: Provide technical support production teams to ensure smooth implementation and scalability of heat treatment processes.
  7. Compliance & Standards Adherence: Ensure that heat treatment processes, Equipment adhere & compliance to industry, Aerospace, Customer standards (such as ASTM, ISO, SAE) and company safety, quality, and environmental regulations.
  8. Technology Development: Evaluate and contribute to the development and implementation of new heat treatment technologies.

Qualifications

  1. 3-6 years of experience in heat treatment process development. Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in metallurgical engineering/Materials Science is preferred.
