Plant Operational Accountant (or Plant Accountant) is responsible for managing financial activities at a manufacturing plant or production facility. Their role bridges accounting principles with operational efficiency to ensure accurate financial reporting and cost control.
Financial Reporting & Analysis
Prepare and analyze financial statements for plant operations.
Track key performance indicators (KPIs) such as production costs, material usage, and overhead expenses.
Cost Accounting
Maintain standard cost systems and analyze cost variances.
Monitor direct and indirect manufacturing costs.
Assist in budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning for the plant.
Inventory & Fixed Asset Management
Oversee inventory valuation, reconciliation, and controls.
Track fixed assets, including depreciation and capital expenditures (CapEx).
Compliance & Internal Controls
Ensure adherence to accounting standards (GAAP, IFRS, etc.) and company policies.
Conduct audits and implement internal controls to prevent financial discrepancies.
Collaboration with Operations
Work closely with plant managers, production teams, and procurement.
Provide financial insights to improve efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
Experience: 8+ years in cost accounting, plant accounting, or manufacturing finance.
Technical Skills: SAP, Oracle, or other ERP systems; Excel proficiency.
Soft Skills: Analytical thinking, problem-solving, and strong communication.
