Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced Group Leader – Manufacturing Operations to oversee daily plant operations, ensuring production targets, quality standards, safety, cost efficiency, and delivery commitments are consistently achieved. The role is responsible for leading production teams, optimizing manufacturing processes, driving continuous improvement initiatives, and ensuring smooth coordination across production, quality, maintenance, planning, stores, purchasing, and other support functions.

The ideal candidate should possess strong leadership abilities, operational excellence, problem-solving capabilities, and experience in managing high-volume manufacturing environments.


Key Responsibilities

Production Operations

  • Lead and supervise day-to-day manufacturing operations.
  • Ensure production targets are achieved as per customer schedules.
  • Coordinate plant activities to accomplish manufacturing objectives in a timely and cost-effective manner.
  • Review and execute production schedules to meet inventory and delivery requirements.
  • Allocate manpower and machine resources effectively.
  • Remove production bottlenecks and improve throughput.
  • Ensure optimum utilization of manpower, machines, and plant assets.

Quality Management

  • Monitor production quality and ensure adherence to quality standards.
  • Coordinate with Quality team to reduce defects and customer complaints.
  • Analyze rejection trends and implement corrective actions.
  • Ensure products meet customer specifications before dispatch.

Process Improvement

  • Drive Continuous Improvement initiatives across manufacturing operations.
  • Identify and eliminate production waste.
  • Improve productivity, efficiency, and manufacturing flexibility.
  • Implement Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen, 5S, TPM, and other operational excellence initiatives.
  • Optimize manufacturing processes for better performance.

Team Management

  • Lead, coach, and mentor production supervisors and shop floor employees.
  • Conduct manpower planning and workforce allocation.
  • Coordinate recruitment, onboarding, and training of manufacturing personnel.
  • Develop employee skills and leadership capabilities.
  • Address employee grievances and maintain healthy industrial relations.

Safety & Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with all plant safety standards and procedures.
  • Promote a strong safety culture across manufacturing operations.
  • Maintain housekeeping and shop floor discipline.
  • Ensure statutory and company compliance requirements are met.

Cost & Resource Management

  • Monitor operational expenses.
  • Control labor overtime and maintenance costs.
  • Improve asset utilization.
  • Identify cost reduction opportunities without compromising quality.
  • Analyze production data and implement cost-saving initiatives.

Cross Functional Coordination

  • Coordinate with Planning, Maintenance, Quality, Stores, Purchase, R&D, and Product Management.
  • Support new product introduction and process implementation.
  • Develop strong supplier relationships along with Procurement team.
  • Ensure smooth communication between departments.

Performance Management

  • Establish and monitor production KPIs.
  • Track productivity, quality, delivery, safety, and cost metrics.
  • Generate operational reports for management review.
  • Take corrective actions to improve plant performance.
