Sr. Java Backend Developer (B) (RARR Job 6419)

We are looking for a Senior Backend Software Engineer to join our team and help improve the platform that supports one of the world's leading experimentation tools. You will work closely with fellow engineers to enhance the experimentation API ecosystem, enabling all the products that are part of the experimentation platform at Booking.com.

Your day-to-day responsibilities will include developing APIs that expose experimentation data to both internal and external consumers across the organization. You will collaborate with engineering managers, product managers, engineers, and data scientists based in Amsterdam to deliver high-quality solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the development and maintenance of backend APIs that power various products.
• Solve complex technical problems to improve development processes, increase efficiency, and unlock new business opportunities.
• Take initiative to enhance existing solutions, challenge technical decisions, propose improved alternatives, and address technical debt.
• Lead technical discussions on software architecture and guide the team toward agile, incremental, and long-term architectural decisions.
• Refactor and simplify code by introducing appropriate design patterns where necessary, while mentoring junior team members on best practices.
• Coach, guide, and support junior engineers to improve their technical skills and overall performance.
