Role Purpose

Provide L1/L1.5 operational support for Oracle and general database platforms. The role focuses on monitoring, RMAN backup/job checks, incident triage, SOP execution, ticket hygiene, evidence collection and escalation to Oracle L2/SME teams.

Engagement Context

Engagement Context: Database Platform Support is a managed L1/L2 operations engagement supporting SQL Server, Azure SQL, PostgreSQL and Oracle. The support model is 24x7 including weekends and focuses on monitoring, incident triage, operational tasks, backup monitoring, change support, vulnerability remediation support, SOP/playbook execution and timely escalation to L3/Engineering for non-SOP or design-level work.

Mandatory Skills

  • 2–3 years database/application production support experience
  • Basic Oracle database support knowledge
  • Understanding of monitoring alerts, health checks and ticketing
  • Familiarity with backup/job monitoring, preferably RMAN basics
  • Ability to follow SOPs and escalate appropriately
  • Willingness to work in 24x7 support model

Good-to-Have Skills

  • Basic SQL knowledge
  • Exposure to Data Guard/RAC concepts
  • Shell scripting basics
  • Jira/ServiceNow and audit evidence collection

Key Responsibilities

Oracle Monitoring

  • Monitor Oracle availability, backup, job and storage alerts
  • Review RMAN backup status and escalate failures
  • Perform basic log/health checks using approved SOPs
  • Create and update tickets for operational issues

Incident & Escalation

  • Perform initial triage and evidence collection
  • Escalate unresolved or complex issues to L2/Oracle SME
  • Maintain accurate incident updates and handoff notes
  • Support bridge coordination as required

Operational Support

  • Execute approved scripts/checklists
  • Support access/user-related tickets as per workflow
  • Support deployment/migration validation steps
  • Collect audit/compliance evidence when requested

Knowledge & Communication

  • Maintain SOP and KEDB updates
  • Provide shift handovers
  • Respond to approved operational support channels
  • Follow escalation matrix and documented processes
