Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Senior SAP QM Consultant to support a major life sciences transformation program with a strong emphasis on quality process alignment, regulatory compliance, and operational readiness. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in SAP Quality Management, a solid understanding of Japanese regulatory and audit requirements, and the ability to bridge communication between global teams and local Japanese operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as the primary liaison between Quality Assurance (QA) teams and SAP functional experts for Quality Management and compliance-related processes.

  • Lead business process mapping, fit-gap analysis, and align quality processes with global standards and SAP QM best practices tailored to Japanese operations and local regulatory expectations.

  • Conduct workshops, interviews, and requirement-gathering sessions with QA, manufacturing, regulatory affairs, and operational stakeholders.

  • Translate quality and compliance requirements into precise functional specifications and guide implementation, testing, and training teams.

  • Support system integration testing (SIT), UAT, master data validation, and cutover activities from a quality operations perspective.

  • Develop training materials and support change management initiatives aimed at quality and manufacturing teams.

  • Ensure that SAP QM processes support full compliance, traceability, documentation control, and audit readiness in GxP-regulated environments aligned with Japanese pharma and life science standards.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of QM with MM, PP, EWM, PM, and other relevant modules.

  • Provide guidance on standardizing quality processes, managing inspection workflows, and improving overall data integrity and system reliability.

Required Skills & Experience

  • 8+ years of hands-on SAP experience, with deep expertise in SAP Quality Management (QM) and strong understanding of integration with MM, PP, SD, EWM, and PM.

  • Proven experience in global or regional SAP programs, including at least two full-cycle SAP QM implementations.

  • Strong understanding of quality planning, inspection processes, in-process and incoming inspection, batch release, deviation/non-conformance management, and audit processes.

  • Advanced configuration skills in SAP QM, including inspection lots, inspection plans, quality notifications, control plans, results recording, documentation, and usage decisions.

  • Ability to convey complex SAP and quality concepts clearly and effectively to business users in simple, actionable terms.

  • Solid understanding of GxP compliance, validation, documentation, and audit requirements within regulated environments.

  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work across diverse global and local teams.

  • Proficiency in Japanese (JLPT N2 or above) and English—both written and verbal—is mandatory.

  • Adaptability to fast-paced project environments with the ability to manage multiple priorities.

  • Willingness to travel as required.

  • Experience in regulated industries such as life sciences, pharmaceuticals, chemicals, healthcare, food, or consulting is highly preferred.
