Job Description

We are seeking a highly experienced Senior SAP Plant Maintenance (PM) Consultant with strong knowledge of PM, PP, and WM modules to support a major life sciences transformation program. The role focuses on asset management, maintenance operations, shop-floor readiness, and ensuring seamless alignment between business and IT teams. The ideal candidate will bring deep SAP PM expertise and the ability to drive standardization aligned with global and Japanese industry practices.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as the primary liaison between maintenance/engineering teams and SAP functional teams for Plant Maintenance and Technical Asset Management.

  • Lead end-to-end business process mapping, fit-gap analysis, and alignment with global SAP PM standards tailored for Japanese operations.

  • Conduct workshops, interviews, and requirement-gathering sessions with maintenance, engineering, reliability, and operations teams.

  • Translate operational and regulatory requirements into detailed functional specifications and guide implementation teams during build and configuration.

  • Support system testing phases, master data preparation, data validation, and cutover activities from a maintenance perspective.

  • Develop training materials, SOPs, and contribute to change management initiatives targeting maintenance and operational teams.

  • Ensure SAP PM processes support compliance, traceability, audit readiness, and reliability within GxP-regulated life sciences environments.

  • Collaborate cross-functionally to ensure strong integration of SAP PM with PP, MM, WM, FI/CO, EHS, and other SAP or non-SAP modules (e.g., MES, EAM tools).

  • Provide expert guidance on maintenance planning, work order execution, preventive/predictive maintenance, equipment lifecycle management, and asset performance.

  • Identify improvement opportunities and support continuous enhancement of maintenance processes and system capability.

Required Skills & Experience

  • 8+ years of SAP experience, with deep hands-on expertise in SAP PM and strong knowledge of WM and familiarity with PP, MM, FI/CO, and EHS integration points.

  • Proven track record in global or regional SAP implementations, including at least two full-cycle SAP PM deployments.

  • Solid understanding of maintenance planning, work order management, technical objects, calibration, equipment lifecycle management, reliability processes, and asset performance management.

  • Strong configuration experience in SAP PM: maintenance plans, task lists, notifications, work orders, measuring points/counters, PM master data, and breakdown analysis.

  • Ability to articulate complex SAP PM concepts to non-technical stakeholders in practical, business-friendly language.

  • Experience working within GxP-regulated environments, adhering to compliance and validation requirements.

  • Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively across business and IT teams.

  • Proficiency in Japanese (JLPT N2 or above) and English—both written and verbal—is mandatory.

  • Ability to thrive in fast-paced, dynamic project environments and work independently or collaboratively.

  • Willingness to travel as required for project activities.

  • Prior experience in life sciences, pharmaceuticals, healthcare, chemicals, food, or consulting organizations is strongly preferred.
