Job Description

We are seeking an experienced SAP MM/SD Consultant to support a major life sciences transformation program in Japan. This role is designed for professionals who can bridge business teams and IT, ensuring strong alignment between business processes and SAP MM/SD capabilities. You will play a critical role in driving operational readiness and compliance in a regulated environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Business-IT Bridge: Act as the primary liaison between business users and SAP functional teams for MM and SD stakeholders.

  • Process Alignment: Facilitate business process mapping and ensure alignment with global standards and local best practices.

  • Workshops & Requirements: Conduct workshops and gather requirements to translate business needs into clear functional specifications.

  • System Readiness: Support system testing, data validation, and cutover activities from a business operations perspective.

  • Change Enablement: Contribute to training materials and change management initiatives to ensure smooth adoption.

  • Compliance: Ensure SAP MM/SD processes meet Japanese regulatory requirements and GxP standards in pharma/life sciences.

  • Integration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate materials management seamlessly with upstream and downstream processes.

Required Skills & Experience

  • 5+ years of hands-on SAP experience, including MM, SD, AR, and MDM modules.

  • At least 2 full-cycle SAP implementations in global or regional programs.

  • Strong understanding of materials management, inventory control, and logistics processes.

  • Proven configuration skills in SAP MM (purchasing, inventory management, invoice verification, material valuation).

  • Familiarity with integration touchpoints across SAP SD, PP, WM, and FI.

  • Ability to explain complex SAP concepts in simple business terms.

  • Knowledge of compliance and validation in GxP environments.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to work with diverse teams.

  • Proficiency in Japanese (JLPT N2 or higher) and English.

  • Adaptability to a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

  • Willingness to travel as required.

Preferred Qualifications (Nice-to-Have)

  • Experience in regulated industries such as life sciences, pharmaceuticals, chemicals, health, food, or consulting.
