Power BI Developer (RARR Job 5520)

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Power BI Developer with 5+ years of proven experience in designing, developing, and deploying impactful Power BI dashboards and reports. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, a deep understanding of data modeling, and the ability to translate complex data into actionable insights to support strategic business decisions.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, and maintain interactive dashboards, reports, and visualisations using Power BI Desktop and Power BI Service.
• Create data models, DAX formulas, and calculated measures/columns to support business logic.
• Build Power BI dashboards using the customer provided template and standards
• Integrate Power BI with various data sources (e.g., SQL Server, Excel, Azure, APIs, SharePoint, etc.).
• Optimize performance of dashboards and reports with appropriate indexing and data reduction techniques.
• Collaborate with business stakeholders, analysts, and other developers to gather requirements and translate them into effective BI solutions.
• Implement row-level security (RLS), scheduled data refreshes and workspace management in Power BI Service.
• Document technical specifications, processes, and provide training/support to end-users.
• Stay up to date with new features of Power BI and recommend best practices for usage and governance.
• Contribute to data governance, data quality and data security efforts.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Statistics, or related field.
• 5+ years of hands-on experience in Power BI development.
• Strong knowledge of DAX, Power Query (M language), and Power BI Dataflows.
• Proficient in data modeling, ETL design, and performance tuning.
• Experience with SQL Server / T-SQL and writing complex queries.
• Familiarity with Azure services (e.g., Azure Data Factory, Synapse Analytics, Azure SQL, etc.) is a plus.
• Strong understanding of data visualization best practices and user experience design.
• Ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders effectively.
• Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Microsoft Certified: Data Analyst Associate (Power BI) or other relevant certifications.
• Experience with Power Platform (Power Apps, Power Automate).
• Familiarity with Python or R for data analytics is a plus.
• Exposure to DevOps, CI/CD for BI and version control systems (e.g., Git).
