Position Overview

The IT Desktop Engineer will be responsible for installing, configuring, and maintaining desktop systems, software, and hardware across the organization. This role requires strong troubleshooting skills, hands-on experience with Microsoft Office applications (especially Word and Outlook), and the ability to provide effective technical support to end users.


Key Responsibilities

  • Install, configure, and upgrade desktop systems, laptops, and peripheral devices (printers, scanners, etc.).

  • Set up and manage user accounts, permissions, and access in accordance with company standards.

  • Install, configure, and troubleshoot Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, and Teams.

  • Provide support for Outlook email configuration, mailbox management, PST handling, and email flow issues.

  • Perform operating system installations and updates (Windows 10/11).

  • Manage system imaging, deployment, and device setup through tools like SCCM/Intune (if applicable).

  • Troubleshoot desktop hardware, network connectivity, and software-related issues.

  • Perform routine maintenance and ensure system security through updates, patching, and antivirus checks.

  • Collaborate with IT teams to support system upgrades and deployments.

  • Maintain documentation for configurations, procedures, and IT asset inventory.

  • Provide timely and professional technical support via phone, email, remote sessions, or in person.


Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Proven experience as a Desktop Engineer / IT Support Engineer / Technical Support Specialist.

  • Strong knowledge of Windows desktop environments (Windows 10/11).

  • Hands-on experience with installation and configuration of hardware and software.

  • Expertise in Microsoft Office applications—especially Word and Outlook (profile configuration, troubleshooting, add-ins, etc.).

  • Solid understanding of basic networking (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP).

  • Ability to diagnose and resolve technical problems quickly and effectively.

  • Experience with remote support tools.

  • Good communication and customer service skills.


Preferred Qualifications (Optional)

  • Experience with Active Directory, group policies, and user account management.

  • Familiarity with Office 365 administration.

  • Knowledge of IT ticketing systems (ServiceNow, JIRA, etc.).

  • Certifications such as CompTIA A+, Microsoft 365 Fundamentals, or MCSE.
