Job Description: Database Lead – Oracle
Role Overview
Our Telecom customer is seeking an Oracle Database Lead with 15+ years of relevant experience to anchor Offshore database service delivery. The role provides operational leadership, technical governance, and customer-facing accountability for the Oracle estate (across both legacy and current versions) and acts as the primary escalation interface between offshore delivery teams, customer stakeholders, and Oracle vendor channels, within an ITIL-aligned managed services framework.
Key Responsibilities
• Lead onshore Oracle database service delivery and operational governance
• Own SLA performance, RCA quality, and continual service improvement outcomes
• Act as single point of escalation for Severity 1 and 2 Oracle incidents
• Drive change planning, CAB engagement, and after-hours change governance
• Provide technical governance over RAC, Data Guard, RMAN, and upgrade activities
• Coordinate Oracle vendor engagement for permanent fixes and roadmap alignment
• Lead Oracle migration planning (on-prem to Azure IaaS) and consolidation initiatives
• Mentor offshore L2/L3 engineers and uplift technical capability
• Own weekly and monthly operational reporting for customer stakeholders
• Partner with Service Management, Architecture, Security, and Application teams
• Drive automation backlog and toil reduction initiatives
Required Skills
• 12+ years in Oracle database engineering and operations, with 5+ years in lead/SME roles
• Deep Oracle Architecture expertise — RAC, Data Guard, RMAN, ASM, APEX
• Demonstrable experience leading large Oracle estates in managed services environments
• Strong performance tuning, HA/DR design, and migration expertise
• Experience with Oracle on Azure IaaS, AWS, and OCI
• Strong stakeholder management and customer-facing communication skills
• ITIL process leadership and CAB governance experience
• PL/SQL, Shell, and Linux scripting proficiency
Preferred Skills
• Telecom or regulated enterprise operations experience
• Oracle 23ai and 26ai exposure
• Oracle Exadata or Oracle Database Appliance
• Commvault and enterprise backup tooling experience
• Cloud certifications (Oracle, AWS, Azure)
• People leadership and offshore team management experience
• Agile and DevOps delivery exposure
