Job Description
Responsibilities
- Working with the U.S. Complex Financial Instruments (CFI) teams (on both audit and external valuation projects) engaged in the valuation of earnouts, equity interests, convertible and non-convertible debt, warrants, embedded derivatives etc. for regulatory, financial and tax purposes
- Manage CFI valuation engagements independently and in collaboration with the U.S. senior managers and PPMDs
- Communication with U.S. engagement teams (including valuation and audit) and external clients
- Work closely with audit and financial reporting teams to assess and validate valuation models and their underlying assumptions for comprehensive financial statement audits
- Authorizing valuation reviews for private clients, ensuring adherence to auditing standards and regulatory frameworks, thereby safeguarding compliance
- Mentor CFI team and involve junior team members for initial project execution
- Maintain and develop positive, productive, and professional relationships with offices across the U.S.
- Identify issues and propose strategies related to the process improvement
- Demonstrate teamwork and responsibility with engagement team members
- Use current technology and tools to enhance the effectiveness of services provided
- Identify business development opportunities and assist PPMDs and directors / senior managers on proposals and new business opportunities
- Stay abreast of current business and economic developments relevant to our as well as the client's business
- Assisting internal clients on client development and practice development assignments
Skills
- Experience in broad-based business and financial valuations and multi-discipline appraisals, including those of closely held companies
- Technical expertise in equity interests and CFI valuation products such as ASC 718, IRC 409A, ASC 820, IBR / ASC 842, debt and warrants valuation
- Excellent thoughtfulness, project management, communication, interpersonal and teaming skills
- Ability to manage multiple engagements and competing priorities in a rapidly growing, fast-paced, interactive, results-based team environment
- Advanced knowledge and experience in any of the following sectors will be added advantage - financial services, oil & gas, technology, consumer products, power and utilities and life science
- Strong leadership, recruiting, training, and mentoring skills, coupled with excellent verbal, written (including technical writing), and presentation skills.
- Willingness and ability to travel, when required
- Exposure to databases such as Capital IQ, Bloomberg, Refinitiv etc.
Professional Experience / Qualifications
- A post graduate degree in finance, economics, or any other quantitative discipline with 10-15 years of related work experience
- A minimum of 8 years direct experience in utilizing valuation techniques and methodologies such as Option Pricing Method (OPM), Probability-Weighted Expected Return Method (PWERM), Current Value Method (CVM), Monte Carlo Simulations (MCS), Discounted Cash Flow (DCF), Market Comparables, etc. in a business valuation firm or practice or in venture capital, investment banking, commercial banking, financial research, national valuation firm or experience working in a corporate finance role for an organization, preferably for M&A activities
- Certification/license such as CPA or CFA, and valuation credentials such as CVA, ABV, AVA or ASA preferred
- Accounting, finance, and economics knowledge; proficiency in US GAAP preferred
