Job Description

Job Description: Lead/Senior RF Engineer

Key Responsibilities

  • Architect and design SSPAs using GaN/GaAs technologies for high-efficiency, high-power applications from DC to 40 GHz for the modulation of CW, pulse, FM, AM, and PM.
  • Develop RF circuits including matching networks, biasing, and power combiners.
  • Optimize amplifier linearity, gain, efficiency, and stability across operating bands.
  • Ensure compliance with ESS and EMI/EMC requirements and design for manufacturability.
  • Integrate SSPAs into radar transmitters, satellite payloads, and communication systems.
  • Collaborate with system engineers on interface requirements and performance optimization.
  • Provide troubleshooting and field support for deployed systems.
  • Prepare design specifications, test reports, and qualification documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with MIL-STD-810 (ESS) and MIL-STD-461 (EMI/EMC).
  • Support customer reviews, proposals, and technical presentations.

Testing & Validation

  • Perform RF characterization (power, pulse characteristics, gain, P1dB, IP3, efficiency, harmonics).
  • Conduct ESS testing (thermal cycling, vibration, burn-in) to validate reliability.
  • Support EMI/EMC qualification testing per MIL-STD-461 and related standards.
  • Validate performance under extreme environmental conditions.

Required Skills

  • Strong background in RF/microwave amplifier design (GaN/GaAs technologies).
  • Proficiency with simulation tools (ADS, HFSS, CST, MATLAB).
  • Experience with high-power RF testing and load-pull simulation techniques.
  • Knowledge of thermal management, reliability engineering, and ESS methodologies.
  • Familiarity with EMI/EMC compliance testing and mitigation techniques.
  • Ability to lead design teams and manage cross-functional projects.

Qualifications

  • B.Tech / M.Tech in Electronics & Communication Engineering, RF & Microwave Engineering, or related field.

Experience

  • 8–12 years of experience in RF/microwave power amplifier design
  • Timely completion of design and validation milestones.
  • Experience in aerospace/defense applications preferred
  • Successful demonstration of RF subsystem performance to customer.
