Job Description: Lead/Senior RF Engineer
Key Responsibilities
- Architect and design SSPAs using GaN/GaAs technologies for high-efficiency, high-power applications from DC to 40 GHz for the modulation of CW, pulse, FM, AM, and PM.
- Develop RF circuits including matching networks, biasing, and power combiners.
- Optimize amplifier linearity, gain, efficiency, and stability across operating bands.
- Ensure compliance with ESS and EMI/EMC requirements and design for manufacturability.
- Integrate SSPAs into radar transmitters, satellite payloads, and communication systems.
- Collaborate with system engineers on interface requirements and performance optimization.
- Provide troubleshooting and field support for deployed systems.
- Prepare design specifications, test reports, and qualification documentation.
- Ensure compliance with MIL-STD-810 (ESS) and MIL-STD-461 (EMI/EMC).
- Support customer reviews, proposals, and technical presentations.
Testing & Validation
- Perform RF characterization (power, pulse characteristics, gain, P1dB, IP3, efficiency, harmonics).
- Conduct ESS testing (thermal cycling, vibration, burn-in) to validate reliability.
- Support EMI/EMC qualification testing per MIL-STD-461 and related standards.
- Validate performance under extreme environmental conditions.
Required Skills
- Strong background in RF/microwave amplifier design (GaN/GaAs technologies).
- Proficiency with simulation tools (ADS, HFSS, CST, MATLAB).
- Experience with high-power RF testing and load-pull simulation techniques.
- Knowledge of thermal management, reliability engineering, and ESS methodologies.
- Familiarity with EMI/EMC compliance testing and mitigation techniques.
- Ability to lead design teams and manage cross-functional projects.
Qualifications
- B.Tech / M.Tech in Electronics & Communication Engineering, RF & Microwave Engineering, or related field.
Experience
- 8–12 years of experience in RF/microwave power amplifier design
- Timely completion of design and validation milestones.
- Experience in aerospace/defense applications preferred
- Successful demonstration of RF subsystem performance to customer.
