Job Description
We are looking for a self-driven and highly organized Associate to build and lead the Investor Relations (IR) function from the ground up. You will be responsible for developing communication strategies, managing investor engagement, and preparing reporting frameworks to keep our venture capital partners, individual investors and future investors aligned with the company’s growth story. As a solo team member, you will work closely with the founder and leadership to shape a transparent and compelling investor narrative.
Key Responsibilities:
- Function setup and strategy
- Define and implement the Investor Relations roadmap for the company from scratch.
- Develop a central repository of investor materials, including pitch decks, financial models, cap tables, product updates, and FAQs.
- Work with leadership to establish IR goals, metrics, and cadences (monthly, quarterly updates, etc.).
- Research best practices in IR within the startup and tech ecosystem.
- Understand and initiate any PR initiatives required to align the external world and future investors on the company’s growth story.
- Reporting and analysis
- Prepare, review, and send monthly/quarterly investor reports with KPIs, financial highlights, and qualitative updates.
- Coordinate with finance, product, and operations to gather data and insights for reporting.
- Track fund utilization, runway projections, and financial performance indicators relevant to investors.
- Maintain and update cap tables and other ownership-related records in coordination with finance/legal.
- Investor communication and engagement
- Act as the first point of contact for all inbound investor communications.
- Proactively manage investor relations by ensuring timely and relevant updates are shared.
- Organize and prepare materials for investor calls, virtual town halls, and board meetings.
- Build trust and a strong relationship with existing investors by showcasing transparency and responsiveness & be aware of their goals.
- Research & Fundraising Support
- Conduct research on market benchmarks, industry trends, and comparable companies.
- Assist the founder in preparing for fundraising rounds – due diligence, data rooms, and investor outreach material.
- Track relevant VC/PE ecosystem activity, including news, portfolio moves, or M&A activity involving comparable companies.
- Process, Tools & Compliance
- Set up and manage tools (e.g., DocSend, Notion, Affinity, Carta/EquityList, Airtable) to streamline IR workflows.
- Maintain clean documentation and communication logs.
- Coordinate with legal & compliance teams to ensure accuracy and confidentiality in all investor-facing materials.
Experience & Background
- 2–4 years of experience in investor relations, consulting, VC, investment banking, FP&A, or a startup finance role.
- Exposure to working with founders, CXOs, or external stakeholders is strongly preferred.
- Familiarity with tech or SaaS business models is a bonus.
- Expertise in financial modelling, valuation, and deal structuring.
- Strong storytelling and executive communication skills—able to present to C-level and boards.
Skills & Attributes
- Strong written and verbal communication skills – concise, clear, and credible.
- High ownership mindset with project management skills – can drive and deliver independently.
- Sharp analytical thinking with an eye for financial detail and narrative storytelling.
- Ability to work in ambiguity and build systems from scratch.
- Strong ethical judgment and discretion with confidential information.
- Strategic – can understand ‘the big picture’ and exercise good business judgment
- Problem solver – can structure, break down, and solve complex business issues
- Analytical – can analyse and draw conclusions from large and/or complex data sources (both qualitative and quantitative data sets)
- Financial acumen – understands financial analysis/working knowledge of financial statements
- Communicator – can synthesize ideas and thinking for sharing with others
- Self-directed – can manage his/her own work in a fast-changing environment
- Collaborative – able to partner with other functions/business leaders on complex problems and business issues
