Job Description-

The Area Sales Manager is responsible for leading, managing, and developing a team of Medical Representatives (MRs) within a specific geographic territory to achieve and exceed sales targets for the ortho segment. The ASM will drive sales growth by implementing effective sales strategies, building strong relationships with key healthcare professionals, and ensuring the successful execution of promotional activities for the Sales portfolio, which includes products for orthopedics, nephrology, and rheumatology.

Key Responsibilities

1. Sales Strategy and Target Achievement

  • Develop and implement strategic and tactical sales plans to achieve monthly, quarterly, and annual sales objectives.
  • Analyze sales data, market trends, and competitor activities to identify new opportunities and course-correct strategies as needed.
  • Monitor sales performance against targets and provide regular performance reports to the Regional Sales Manager. 

2. Team Leadership and Management

  • Lead, motivate, and coach a team of Medical Representatives to maximize their performance and potential.
  • Conduct regular joint field working and coaching sessions with MRs to develop their sales and relationship-building skills.
  • Set clear performance expectations and provide constructive feedback to team members.
  • Manage the recruitment and retention of high-performing Medical Representatives for the area. 

3. Customer and Stakeholder Relations

  • Build and maintain strong, ethical relationships with key opinion leaders (KOLs) and other healthcare professionals in the orthopedics, nephrology, and rheumatology segments.
  • Conduct group meetings, seminars, and continuing medical education (CME) sessions for healthcare professionals to promote Ortho products.
  • Handle and resolve any field-level issues related to doctors, chemists, and stockists. 

4. Territory and Market Management

  • Ensure optimal territory coverage and frequency of visits to doctors as per the division's standards.
  • Effectively manage stockists and distributors to ensure adequate product availability in the market.
  • Monitor competitor activities, products, and strategies, and provide market feedback to senior management. 

5. Administration and Reporting

  • Effectively utilize and ensure team compliance with the company's online reporting system (e-detailing and daily/monthly reports).
  • Control expenses and manage the area's budget to ensure effective utilization of resources.
  • Maintain detailed and accurate records of contacts and customer interactions

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Prior experience as a first-line manager (ASM/ABM) in the pharmaceutical industry is highly preferred.
  • Experience in the orthopedic, nephrology, and rheumatology therapeutic segments is a plus.\
