Assistant Manager / Deputy Manager – Indirect Tax

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented professional for the role of AM/DM – Indirect Tax. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing the company’s indirect taxation matters including GST compliance, audits, litigation, and strategic tax planning.

Key Responsibilities:

• Ensure timely and accurate filing of GST returns (GSTR-1, GSTR-3B, GSTR-9, etc.)

• Manage GST reconciliations (Books vs GSTR-2A/2B), input tax credit (ITC) optimization, and refund processes

• Handle departmental audits, assessments, and represent the company before GST authorities

• Provide advisory on indirect tax implications for business transactions, contracts, and pricing

• Monitor changes in tax laws and ensure timely implementation of required changes in internal processes

• Coordinate with cross-functional teams including Finance, SCM, and Legal to ensure tax compliance

• Liaise with external consultants, auditors, and legal advisors as needed

• Maintain robust documentation and support for all tax filings and litigation matters

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• Qualified Chartered Accountant (CA) or equivalent (MBA Finance with strong tax experience may also be considered)

• 6–10 years of experience in Indirect Taxation (preferably in a manufacturing or multi-location organization)

• Strong knowledge of GST law, recent amendments, and practical application

• Experience in managing indirect tax assessments, audits, and litigation

• Proficient in MS Excel, ERP systems (SAP preferred), and GST portal functionalities

• Excellent communication and analytical skills

Preferred Attributes:

• Experience in handling pan-India indirect tax operations

• Exposure to SEZ, EOU, and export/import related tax structures

• Ability to work independently and lead a small tax team
