Name of the Post: R&D Head
Duty Hours Regular Office Hours (9:00 AM to 5:30 PM)
Working days Mon – Fri (5 days Week)
Overview: As the Head of R&D in the automotive sector, you will be responsible for leading and
managing the research and development activities within the organization. The ideal candidate
will have a strong background in power electronics, electric vehicles, DC motors, DC converters,
and mechatronics. This role requires a strategic thinker with a proven track record of successfully
bringing innovative products to market.
Responsibilities:
1. Strategic Leadership:
- Develop and implement the overall R&D strategy aligned with the company's business
goals.
- Provide visionary leadership to the R&D team, fostering a culture of innovation and collaboration.
- Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and regulatory changes to guide the R&D direction.
2. Project Management:
- Oversee multiple R&D projects from conceptualization to product launch.
- Ensure projects are completed on time and within budget, meeting quality and
performance standards.
3. Team Management:
- Recruit, mentor, and lead a team of skilled researchers and engineers.
- Foster a collaborative and innovative work environment.
- Provide guidance and support for professional development.
4. Technical Expertise:
- Utilize your expertise in power electronics, electric vehicles, DC motors, DC converters, and mechatronics to guide and contribute to technical discussions.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate cutting-edge technologies into product development.
- Understanding and designing the electrical circuits for the motor and DC-to-DC converter.
- Knowledge of power semiconductor devices, converters, and inverters.
- Understanding the principles of electromagnetic fields and their application in motor design. Knowledge of processes like casting, machining, and assembly.
- Conceptualize, design and develop Battery Systems specific to the company's product, across various platforms
- Understand the customer requirement (SOR) & conversion to the software logics and flow.
- Creating primary specification documents based on the SOR/RFQ.
- Conducting Design review and system DFMEA.
- Creating documents as per defined process.
- 12+ years of software development life cycle experience;
- Strong design and architecture knowledge in embedded systems;
- Strong experience with hardware and mechanical experience in the automotive area; Solid background dealing with RTOS and microcontroller-based architectures;
- Solid background with STM, Renesas PIC, and modules;
- Ensure quality of software using appropriate methods (Code Review, Static
- Analysis, Unit Test etc.) and application of suitable Coding Standards.
- Knowledge of pre-processor directives, Pointers, Data Structures, HAL layer development.
- Knowledge about most of the MCU peripherals like SPI, I2C, UART, CAN, LIN.
- Plan and Do approach. Preparing Flowcharts and UML before developing any firmware application.
- Experience in Embedded C,UML, QT(HMI Graphics Management), Design patterns and Algorithms
- Experience in RTOS-OSEK, Device Driver, Board support package development
- Protocol experience on CAN, UDS/KWP2000, I2C, SPI, UART, ADC, PWM, Timers, Motor Driver etc.
- Software Architecture for Instrument Panel Cluster
- Real Time Operating system(RTOS)-OSEK Architecture concept, interface with driver & application layer
- MCU Power State, Memory Management, I/O Management & Graphics TFT designing
- Microcontroller 32 bit/16-bit (Accordo-5, Renesas-RH850, RL78, Cypress, Infineon, Ti-MSP430) etc.
- Product: Dashboard-Cluster, Body computer module, VCU, Infotainment, Auto Aftermarket products etc.
- Autosar Framework & it’s MCAL library
- Connectivity with Bluetooth Low Energy
- Functional Safety(ISO26262) Architecture Concept design for System & Software domain
- High Speed Design using 32-bit Microprocessor with eMMC, SDRAM, DDR3, Bluetooth circuit etc.
- Wireless Communication Architecture (Bluetooth, GSM, GPS & its Antenna
- selection) used in Automotive Industry
- Hardware tools CR5000, Cadence ALLEGRO, OrCAD, LT Spice
- Expert in Analog & Power Electronics in Hardware design (DC-DC, AC-DC converter & Magnetic design)
- Exposure of EMI/EMC test in Germany & France.
5. Collaboration:
- Work closely with other departments, such as product design, manufacturing, and marketing, to ensure seamless integration of R&D efforts with overall business objectives.
- Establish and maintain partnerships with external research institutions, industry experts, and technology providers.
6. Budget Management:
- Develop and manage the R&D budget, ensuring resources are allocated efficiently.
- Identify opportunities for cost savings and process improvements.
Qualifications:
1. Educational Background:
- Advanced degree in Electronics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field. [Mechatronics]
- A Ph.D. in a relevant field is highly desirable.
2. Experience:
- Minimum of 18 years of experience in R&D roles within the automotive industry.
- Proven experience in power electronics, electric vehicles, DC motors, DC converters, and mechatronics.
3. Leadership Skills:
- Demonstrated success in leading and motivating multidisciplinary teams.
- Strong strategic thinking and decision-making skills.
4. Innovation and Problem-Solving:
- Track record of developing and implementing innovative solutions.
- Ability to identify and solve complex technical challenges.
